If you want to become a plumber you have probably done a little research in to what an plumber does.  Likely, you found that plumbers install plumbing and plumbing service in new construction in commercial and residential environments, plumbers update existing plumbing services in these environments, they repair existing plumbing, they add new services to existing construction, plumbers maintain water plants plants and distributions, they work on all sorts of building and environments.

Plumbers Make a Good Living
Plumbers are responsible for making sure we have safe and clean water to drink and wash with when and were we want it.  They also ensure that the water that has been used is safely and efficiently carried away.  You would not want just anyone working on the plumbing that is in your home, that you bath and cook with.  You would not want just anyone installing a new plumbing in your home, the risks of  accidental leaks or contamination are far too great.  Not to mention that most communities require plumbing to be done by a licensed plumber.  Because of the requirements facing a plumber, plumbers make a good wage.  They have a very secure job and work with very flexible hours.  Becoming a plumber is a good career choice.

What Do I need To Know To Become A Plumber?
To become a plumber you have to study the theory of plumbing, how it works, the physics involved in plumbing and how it flows, how water and waste are safely carried, how to calculate load requirements and over come obstacles associated with an installation and how to troubleshoot and isolate problems.  Plumbers have to understand the theory as well as they know how to apply the practical side of the business.  Plumbers have a unique set of skills in that they need an academic level understanding of plumbing and how it works as well as a craftsman's understanding of how to install the service, bend pipe, cut and pull pipe and many other mechanical aspects of installing plumbing services.

To become a plumber you will need to attend school and learn the trade from an experienced and licensed plumber.  There are many trade schools that offer courses that lead to a person to become a plumber.  You can use the Internet to help find local trade schools that offer training that suites your particular needs and circumstances.  Many schools offer financial assistance if you require it.  Many of the trade schools will offer courses that are specific  to a trade specialty.  For plumbers that could be areas of specialty like large distribution plants, commercial environments, residential needs or any one of a wide variety of other topics.

After you complete your school requirements you will need to complete some on the job training requirements.  Most communities require at least three years of practical experience before becoming a licensed plumber.  This requirement is to ensure you know how to safely and effectively implement and practice what you were taught.  Once you decide to become a plumber you have a lot of things to learn but it is a very rewarding career.
